Serge Dagueneau Pouilly Fume 2016 (Loire Sauvignon Blanc)
If you’re going to drink Sauvignon Blanc, this is the one.
Man, the nose is beyond gorgeous and inviting. Really is a gun flint nose – reminding me of a cap gun going off. On the palate - sensational. Got all the vibrancy of your typical SB but with a lovely calming texture – no rouge acid causing havoc in your mouth.
I remember the old Jancis Robinson wine course’ DVD. She sat down with Didier Dagueneau and exclaimed ‘this is no ordinary Sauvignon Blanc’ ever since I wanted to try it. This was made by his son with the same grapes after his death so it’s the next best thing. I’m not Sauvignon Blanc fan, but I am a fan of this.
