Chapoutier Cotes du Roussillon Villages L'Esquerda Red 2017 Mainly Syrah and some Grenache & Carignan.
Really beautiful nose here- right away you should be able to see the differences between northern and southern Rhone. Big but a lot more red fruit on the nose. On the palate big, rich and juicy. Delightfully full bodied, weighty, prominent alcohol – now getting dark crushed blackberries. It’s a really nice wine.
After a few minutes in the glass, it really rounds out nicely DEFINITE YES!
This is one you analyze for a couple minutes then settle in and enjoy. This is what I was looking for! (Been a pain after a couple days of wines not making the cut)
Honestly worth pointing out – this is not the typical experience with the Rhone Valley in Australia – it’s either outrageously expensive / super premium category or it’s super average. We’re on a good thing here😉
After a couple hours of air, it’s tough to put down in all honesty. Getting that dark roast coffee coming in on the nose. Seriously delicious on the palate. Perfect Balance.
