Cotes du Roussillon Villages Occultum Lapidem 2016 blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan.
Straight away the nose is incredibly inviting – really dark ripe berries with a soft milk chocolate quality waving you in. On the palate deep almost raisinated fruit but without the ‘turned’ quality. Oh man it’s been open for a couple minutes and already I know it’s a winner. Really polished, classy, extracted and serious but with a lively acid backbone keeping it nimble. Stellar quality for the money. This is the next price bracket up from the L'Esquerda, honestly, they’re both awesome but can see minor elevation in quality if any. I’d be wrapped drinking this everyday.
