Chapoutier Les Meysonniers Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2018

Straight away as I’m pouring the deep, dark, vibrant colour sticks out to me and causes an involuntary smile. Then you nose it and you know something good is about to happen!

Big, rich, very French, very Rhone! On the palate just sensational – heaps of extracted stewed blackberries, great acid, soft crunchy tannin structure and formidable alcohol showing the ripeness of the fruit.

Delightful, delicious wine – and seriously I didn’t feel like tasting tonight – I was wrong, good day to taste for sure . DEFINITE YES

This is my type of Syrah . slight apricot aftertaste after an hour – may have a small percentage Marsanne Roussanne – research

Drinking a Syrah like this makes you think why do we drink new world Syrah that tries to replicate French when we can drink the real deal for $45 – why bother – the aussie ones are more expensive half the time too.

@balancewineco standard? YES
